Does anyone remember a restaurant with catacombs in the basement that was somewhere in the northern suburbs?

A long time ago I used to go to a restaurant that had a big kodiak stuffed bear and a nice big fireplace on the first floor. When you went down to the lower level it was all small tunnel like catacombs that had tables lining the walls. It was a really unique place to eat and on top of that the food was great. Can someone please help me find this place again? I believe it was somewhere north or northwest of Chicago. Thanks

  1. Indeed it was Comeback Inn.  But I'm seeing some mentions in my Google searches that it closed in 2005.  If so, it is a sad passing.  Great burgers, beer and staff

  2. I remember the place. It was called The Comeback Inn in Melrose Park, Illinois. It had great burgers, popcorn and a big fireplace. Been there a few times.

Also there was a Casa Madrid, although more of a club than a restaurant.

  3. There was a place just like this in Boulder, Colorado.

    It was even called "Catacombs".

But that was back in the late '70s.

And I don't know if it is still there. I hope so!

It was a fun place with good food and great music.
