Does anyone remember back in the late 70's and 80's when we were heading for an ice age due to global cooling?

    Yes. I do. How could anyone miss it? The outright lying of the AGW proponents on this issue indicates their general regard for the truth.In the 40s there was worry about warming - after the "dust bowl " era, and arctic ice receding enough during WW2, that the northwest passage was used for shipping most of the year. During the little ice age starvation was rampant, due to crop failure. And old paintings show people skating in the oddest places. Has anyone now alive seen ice in the delaware river, where george washington is depicted crossing amid ice ?

Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about. It is due to the scientifically proven fact that even in the height of pollution in industrialism...man had very little effect on the environment.Things such as volcanoes have much more effect than we ever will.

If somehow magically, we decide to become more "eco-friendly" and all, you're probably right and they may decide that we're going into cooling again and that will supposedly be another problem with another Al Gore figure to champion it.

No.  I was in college then studying science and never once saw anything about an impeding ice age due to global cooling. I recently have searched the scientific literature for "global cooling" and did not find a single article published at anytime that was not dealing with the distant past (100,000s yrs - use web of science at any research library at a college).

Why make up lies?  Can't you provide a reference to support your false claim?

I remember being a kid and reading an article like that.  It said something like... scientists KNOW we are going to enter an ice age, they just disagree on when.  LOL  The funny thing is sooner or later it will get hotter or it will get colder and theyll be right.  I doubt theyll mention all the times they guessed wrong though.

I find it amazing that if we are supposed to be warming, why hasn't the temperature gone up over the last 6 years? Over the past 13 months the average temperature has actually dropped.

Does that mean we should stop trying to worrying about switching away from gasoline? No! The answer is hydrogen power for cars and solar, hydrothermal, nuclear and wind for the grids.

This was just a few guys with no good data, and no backing from any scientific organization.  The main scientific opinion was warming, even then.

They simply got way more attention in the media than they deserved, much like today's so-called "skeptics".

No, because there was a study done that showed that even in this period of time that pseudoskeptics are so apt to refer to, there were far more papers on global warming than global cooling. The global cooling made the media, though it was never a science consensus. In fact it never even gained much attention in the science community at all. But I am sure if you say this over and over again you'll still be able to fool most of the people who don't know a thing about the issue. (refer to talk radio for more disinformation techniques).

LOL - yeah.  What ever happened to that 'ice age' theory??  It seems that, through the course of time, those idiotic scientists were proven wrong - lol.   I don't believe in global warming no more that I did the great 'ice age' c**p.
