I'm wondering if this is available anywhere? I'm hoping that it's availible on an Internet based movie server or on DVD or VHS. It appears to be a low budget 50's movie. Here's a description:

(Actually if anyone can recommend any other good rail movies it would be much appreciated-Thanks)

"Night Freight"

1955-USA-Crime Drama-

PLOT DESCRIPTION-

Forrest Tucker stars in this yeoman Republic actioner. A short-term railroad freight line is threatened with extinction by a swifter trucking service. Keith Larsen is Tucker's business opponent, as well his rival over the affections of the beauteous Barbara Britton. When the train service evinces signs of survival, the truckers start playing dirty. Night Freight was directed by western veteran Jean Yarborough, who proved that his many years in the TV-sitcom world had not diminished his ability to stage action sequences. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

  1. I don't know the picture, but I found it.  Made in 1955, here is where it is: www.imdb.com.  Just enter the title and search.

Another one to check out is Emperor of the North Pole, made in 1973, directed by Altman and starring Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine.

A great movie with what is arguably the best 'fight sequence' ever filmed.  It's entertaining and, although there is a fair amount of 'theatrical license' at play, the portrait of the rails of the period has a good degree of historical accuracy to it......

  2. No, I haven't heard of that movie. But being the train buff I am, I'm sure I would enjoy it.
