Does anyone remember the 99 call?

I think it was used in British Lions games in South Africa. I have not seen it being used recently. I think the theory goes that if everyone commits a crime, then the referee cannot send everyone off the pitch.

  2. Oh yes! It was an awesome tour, total commitment from every player on both sides. The 99 call was a call to arms to stand shoulder to shoulder with your team mate and batter the opposition.

  6. Yes initiated by Willie John McBride if I remember correctly. The Springboks were thugs so get your retaliation in first and they did and it stopped Springbock thuggery and convingly won the series.
