Does anyone remember the children's book about a mongoose loving bananas?

Question

I remember loving this book when I was young, but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called or any specific details.

I remember that a girl mongoose had a mom and dad and lots of brothers and sisters and she LOVED bananas. Other than that, I can't remember anything else.

It has nothing to do with Riki Tiki Tavi, and I haven't been able to find anything online. Does anyone remember?

It might have been "Runaway Marie Louise."  My daughter loved this book so much that the school librarian wouldn't let her take it out anymore.  She said that the other children might want to read it.  Nobody ever did!
