Does anyone remember the title to the movie I am describing?

All I can remember is a man had to survive in the wilderness, who built himself a fort, he ate the rats that came in, and he peed on the trees to mark his territory so the wolves would leave him be. My mom keeps asking me and I remember the movie but I cannot remember much about it our the title of the film. Is there someone out there that can help me.

There was actually a movie called Man in the Wilderness starring Richard Harris, but I don't remember him building a fort.  He was left for dead by his party, but he recovered and had to survive on his own.
