When I was an early teen (say around thirteen, although i had been reading stephen king when i was around ten, so don't let that fool you) which would make this around 1997, although the book might have been old... I got a book from the library and feverishly devoured it. It was a trilogy and I couldn't get the last book, and never read it... Completely forgot about it until I was wikipedia surfing and read a bout the Shining and how it was inspired by The Haunting of Hill House... The title seemed familiar and I read up on it, and it reminds me greatly of my forgotten trilogy... except it's not a trilogy.
So, this trilogy... I recall it being about a girl and a boy in a house. The house seems to be alive, or it has ghosts that are after them. I believe they have to stay there for the summer because of their parents? Not sure. It seemed to have Edward Gorey-esque fronts to the books. I would really appreciate an answer so I could read it and finish the book.
