Get real. Do you think people will risk being charged for 'obstructing justice' by falsely claiming that they saw a missing child?? Remember, they need to validate their claim with cctv footage...where will you find someone IF you want to intentionally set up a sighting, who has access to seeing a missing child, who won't sell you out...to the waiting media...

C'mon, this is getting macabre. i really wouldn't care, if sightings of missing children weren't so crucial & integral to the search of these lost children.

People are taking this very lightly. Or rather they are taking themselves too seriously.

In an attempt to prove themselves right about little Madeleine McCann, they scoff at sightings of missing children...

Whats achieved? 15minutes of "yep, I'm right"... losing sight of the missing child.

  1. Thw Whole Maddie thing is getting incredibly stupid now.

It seems that any young girl with blonde hair spotted on a grainy CCTV image 'somewhere in Europe' COULD BE MADDIE!!!!!

Or so the papers looking to continue the story, and up paper sales keep saying

  2. Hi, Faith,

I tend to agree with you.

Perhaps one of the difficulties caused by the massive publicity given to Madeleine McCann's disappearance is that millions of people know what she looks like - a good thing. The problem that arises from that very good thing is that there are, consequently, and as we have seen, many more cases of people mistakenly identifying the missing child than might otherwise be the case.

Naturally each 'sighting' interests the press, and is reported, possibly leading to yet more mis-identified sightings?

  3. no, I do not believe that at ALL

  4. Better a mistaken identity than to inore the sighting.

Anyone deliberately falsifying a sighting or taking anything to do with the case lightly deserves...   ? ? ...words fail me.

  5. There are plenty of people out there, who like to cause trouble. The 'Yorkshire Ripper' tapes come to mind, also hoax 999 calls(Emergency UK).

  6. Yes

There is always the chance the newspapers will pay you for your story.

If you are wrong, no harm done, better to be safe than sorry.

  7. Personally i would report a sighting of a missing child even if it were only one in a million chance that it led to something.

Whats the harm in being concerned enough to report something that you may feel will help.

  8. Get real, are you seriously believing that all people are good and decent and wouldn't dream of doing anything like that?
