Does anyone smell a rat?

Why is it that at this and ALL recent Olympics, WELL over half of all Chinese medals are gold? Why not silver and bronze?

Yes, it could be a co-incidence but I smell a rat.

Is it possible that in the lead up to each Olympics that a “senior official” tells competitors that are not certain of winning a gold medal to drop out or disgrace the country? Anyone who has worked in China will know that the government does a lot of sneaky things that they think they think won’t get outed. Substituting some of the fireworks with simulations, choosing a “cute” little girl over the real the singer and replacing minorities with Han actors bunged on as minorities are just the tip of the iceberg in my opinion so it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Does anyone else smell a rat?

  1. u are a dumb ****.. did u see how many gold china won at athen? for instance like  weightlifting or shooting? how can you cheat off that?

  2. Yup, I smell a rat and it's you lol. I saw them DQ a Chinese athlete in swimming for flinching on the diving block. They could have easily ignored it but they didn't.

  3. China had a lot of medals in Athens too. Usually it's the World Powers who dominate the Olympics because the athletes have better facilities to use. Plus, I have watch Diving events for China and they are far superior than any other nation. I also don't know how they would rig other sports like badminton which China dominates, weightlifting, and shooting.  I don't think it's rigged, but I do question some of the gymnast ages on the women's gymnastics team.  Sorry, but I think it's a pretty dumb accusation seeing that U.S. and other nations are also winning their fair share of gold medals. You ever thought that the Chinese athletes are just good, they do have 1.3 billion to choose from.

  4. If it does come out that things were being "fixed" i'll never have respect for the Olympics again. When they banned athletes who doped I thought it was a good move. I find it odd though that China has had this huge resurgence in winning medals.

  5. Do not mix sport with politics.

If you check previous Olympics, you will find that the medal distribution of   the 2 countries are very different, it is not just this year:

    1996

    United States (USA) 44 32 25 Total 101

    China (CHN)              16     22      12     Total  50

    2000

    United States (USA) 36 24 31 Total 91

    China (CHN)            28    16    15     Total 59

    2004

    United States (USA) 36 39 27 Total 102

    China (CHN)            32    17    14     Total  63

You can say US is more risk adverse than China that Americans are aiming for medal and Chinese are aiming for gold.

Also, it could because of the nature of sport they are good at. Sports like gymnastics, diving and weightlifting, which China is good at, involved a lot of risk factor. A strategical mistake could cost an athlete  a medal.

On the other hand, US is good at sports like athletics and swimming,     which has less risk factor on them.

You can seldom see a world number 1 swimmer cannot get a medal, even if he/she cannot get a gold. but it is not uncommon that a world number 1 diver cannot get a medal if he/she made a bad mistake in one of the jumps.

  6. Yup, I sure do.

ANd that rat's name is Bryce W.

Don't have to be sour grapes about it.

If it was the USA, I suppose you wouldnt say anything?

You expect the USA to be the ONLY country good in sports?

THen why the h**l do we even have the Olympics?

Geez,  people, just shut up and watch sports.

  7. First off look at the site below.

So, sure there's something dodgy going on but also look at the size of their contingent. Most countries don't have armies that big. The shot gun effect.

Plus look at OZ 2000 - punching way above their weight - let's be kind and call it home ground advantage.

As for telling athletes to judge their chances or drop out, that wouldn't make much sense because of the size of their team and the minimum qualification criteria.

Anyway look at the results to date and with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions their have been a multitude of athletes, from many countries, out-performing their best ever.
