  1. NO but i do watch monochrome

  2. I watch laurel and hardy its great and i watch some black and white films

  3. only with sunglasses

  4. no, thats so boring, i would fall asleep watching that tv

    i need color!!!

  5. Sure but maybe as a spare.  You can get a colour portable for £20 from car boot sales or charity shops these days but of course you have to pay nearly £140 to licence it.  A B&W licence is about £35 so its a big saving.

I used to buy B&W TVs from car boots for £3 a time lol!

My current TV is a flat+widescreen silver Phillips 24" which I picked up for £50 from cash converters (its great)

I would love a bakelite TV as an object of affection but maybe not to watch too much.

  6. no, but the occasional back and white movie.

  7. Yeah, the TV in my room is really really old and its all black and white - i bought it like 3 weeks ago because i like retro things.

  8. Yes, my television in the kitchen it's a little old black and white.

  9. Yes indeed,...  There is quite a cult following of vintage televisions dating from the 1950's to 60's.

It may not be obvious but, in 1984 Britain's old 405 line VHF TV service was switched off for ever.  Only in recent years has there been an economically priced device, called a standards converter, on the market which converts modern TV signals so that they can be received by these older TVs.

Not surprising then, that a lot of people with a feel for all things retro are now buying the old TVs and getting a standards converter, just to enjoy the 'telly' as it used to be.  You should try it, it's really rather special, and slightly magical, especially if the programme material is from the same period as the television set.

  10. Yes, when I watch I love Lucy it's in black and white!
