  1. I would actually recomend valarian root for anxiety.  Completely organic.  It's what they make Valium out of...but high amounts of it.

You can usually find it at a whole foods store, or even the pharmacy.

about st. johns wort, it worked for a friend of mine...or so she says.  perhaps I should try it!

  2. Before attemping to self medicate yourself, you should try to get to the root of your anxiety. Try to cure the cause and not the symptom. That is the best way to get over your problem.

  3. I take it from time to time for depression.

The pills tend to be rather large, taste like grass and you're supposed to take it 2 or 3 times a day.  That's the major downside and why I only start a regiment through rough patches.

They did seem to help balance out my mood, though.  I had a lot fewer attacks of deep depression and generally felt better.

  4. St. John's Wort works best for depression. I took it for that (I'm bipolar) and it didn't go much for me, but my boyfriend (who gets depression) took it and said it worked really well.

  5. yeah both of my brothers take it they have really becomer calmer and things and it herbal so its not too badd =)

  6. St John's Wort might be good for depression, but it doesn;t seem to be recommended for anxiety.

St Jobhn's Wort is powerful stuff. i would listen to recommendations about treatments that are specifically for anxiety.

    Good luck.

  7. I suffer from osteo arthritis in my back, neck, elbows and hips. I used to take Vioxx, now banned and Co-Proximal also now banned. I have no pain relief prescribed now. I am in pain all day, every day. I take 3 or 4 St John's Wort 334mg per day, every day. I also take omega 3 fish oil and Ginkho Biloba. I can cope with the pain in a way I cannot cope without it. I am, by nature, a grumpy grandpa, I am unbearable without this supplement. I get seriously depressed, withdrawn, uncommunicative, isolated and anti-social. I am a different person with the Wort. I stop taking it for a couple of months every year. I know when the effects have worn off and I have to work really hard to fight the loss of the drug. I am aware it makes my eyes and skin sensitive to sun light so I take a factor 30 on skin I never used to need a cream for. I wear my prescription shades as and when. I honestly believe I would be dead without this supplement. I get so down that I doubt I could recover from a severe bout. I get through the 'time out' by telling myself it is only for a couple of months. I could not cpe any longer than that.
