Whatever people say about him as a person he was by fsar the best boxer ever to have entered the ring. I am british and have watched many fighters but none come close to the explosive power of this man. He was a machine in his prime. Can he come back with some decent help for drugs etc or is it too late. I ask as many heavyweight boxers fight well into their fourties.

  1. Mike is done. Tyson was a good fighter, but thats because he had a great trainer and he was focused. Now he's to old and mentally, Tyson isn't the same as he was in the 90's.

  2. Tyson was the best of his time, its not his fault no one was as good as him...i agree that ther were NO good fighters in Tyson's era but that's out of his control.....and as far as him making a comeback i don't think that's happening, have u seen him lately, the guy is fat and in deep sh*t with the law....

  3. He may return to the ring for a third fight with Evander Holyfield.  There are very strong rumors that this fight could happen in the summertime, but as of right now, they are only rumors.  Tyson said that he will never "fall in love" with boxing again, but the only man who can make him have an "affair" with it would be Evander Holyfield, and Holyfield said he would fight him again for the right money.  I also read somewhere that he was going to go into serious training just to see how his body handles it at this stage and then he'll take it from there.  I think that he is in AT LEAST the top 50 heavyweights of all time and he was awesome in his prime, but I honestly don't think that he has anything left and I think he would get crushed if he fought Holyfield again.  As for being the greatest boxer to ever fight, I think thats going too far: I mean, he was excellent in his prime and it is ARGUABLE that he could have knocked out any heavyweight in history when he was at his peak but I think that there are many fighters who were better than him whether you are talking about just heavyweights (Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali) or pound for pound (Sugar Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong).

  4. he was never the best ..just best at his time never seen Ali ,george forman, smokin joe ect,ect

  5. Tyson was never great, he ruled a division that was weak.

Lewis was always the man that was gonna beat him so he avoided him until he needed the money.

He was just a bully really & lost to the first man that stood up to him & that was Buster who was a bum with balls & nothing to lose lol

  6. Mike Tyson WAS an awesome boxer in my opinion could have beat anyone in history. Hopefully we will not see a shadow of the man back in the ring now although there is talk of a fight with Holyfield

  7. if he does he just box for the money  not to win hes lost it years ago if he was that good lewis   danny williams and other boxers wount have beat him so if he does thats why

  8. probabley if hes offered another big bag of money

  9. I agree, he wants money to it wudnt suprise me.

  10. What makes you believe he was great? He lost all 3 times he faced highly rated opponents. Twice to Holyfield and once to Lewis. He also got beat pretty good by Buster Douglas and Buster wasn't by any means an "all time great"!

He did dominate a bunch of mediocre fighters. His best wins were against Tony Tucker and Razor Rudduck. Neither of them were immortals. His most notorious wins came against a 38 year old Holmes and a blown up light heavyweight Spinks. He has no wins against any great fighters in their prime! That fact makes it hard to consider him an "all time" great.

Tyson originally had good management, he was marketed well. He was sold to the public as "the baddest man on the planet". Good managers match their fighters with guys that make their  fighters look good when they're coming up. It's been done for yrs. Leonard, De la Hoya,  RJJ, Ali, Foreman both times and many others have had this done for them.

Eventually they have to live up to the hype. That is to beat up everyone in front of them. Tyson didn't! He lost, sometimes badly!

Some people like to make excuses for him such as; He didn't train for the Douglas fight. Or his personal problems got in the way. Ultimately he's responsible for that.  Ali and Louis dealt with all kinds of issues too. They just overcame and won. Thats what champions do! And when they lose, they avenge it! Mike never avenged anything! He just fell short and failed!

Unfortunately the division is pathetic right now. Tyson's power makes you think "what if" but in all honesty, he's been to inactive to long.

  11. There are rumors within the boxing world that he and Evander Holyfield will return for their third and final match

  12. No, he's a dirty fighter and a criminal.  He will never box in the USA again.  I hope he never is allowed back into a boxing ring.  He is much to unstable and really he never was that entertaining to watch.

  13. ***urstruly- Tyson had Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield and Buster Douglas all in his era!! They were all little older than him. They all also WHUPPED him!

Why would you possibly think he was the best of his era???

That makes no sense! He got his first beat down at 24 yrs old! By a guy 6 yrs older than him. It wasn't like Mike got too old. He just got whupped! Badly! After that he got beat by the other two guys I mentioned that were also older than him!

The bottom line is he fought two real good fighters that were both older than him, he got beat by both, in fact he got  Ko'd by both Holyfield and Lewis. Not to mention Douglas.

How does that equate to being "the best of his era"

He never came back and beat any of these 3!

  14. Tyson was one of the top 2 heaviest punchers and in the top 5 quickest punchers ever in the heavyweight division.  He also had decent defense.  He had all the tools to be considered one of the best except.  He didnt have heart!  Plan and simple.  He should not step back in the ring unless he needs some money.  But as far as seeing a quality fight well i wont be spending any money on pay per view to watch that guy.  An older fighter with no heart?  Who wants to pay to see that?

  15. I dont know if tyson will ever return to the ring , im a huge tyson fan but even i know he could never be champ again even considering how weak the heavyweight division is right now he has 0 chance. Hes a shot fighter now unfortunatly , talk of a tyson holyfield 3 though thats possible to happen and if it does which i doubt , tyson does actualy have a small chance to beat holyfield this time around. I only say this beacause holyfield is still fighting but has no buisness in the ring whatsoever ..holyfield himself is a shot/washed up fighter  maybe even worse off than tyson currently. Tyson did try to make a few comebacks years ago even after being beat by Lewis but pretty much lossed to everyone he fought including no name bums was pretty sad , hes just not the same man he used to be now hes all bark and no bite. No question in his prime he was amazing and if he was still in his prime he would clean up the heavyweight division with ease the way it is now and we could have a real champ once again. But very unlikely we will see him in a boxing ring again.
