Well when he like wins he like makes all these big arm movements like "i am like so good". I feel sorry for the people who come after him by like .100 of a second? Kind of a poll?

  1. yes, that and that he's becoming very complacent. When Ian Thorpe was around, he was always getting the gold and Phelps always had to settle for silver. Now that Ian has retired, it's just too convenient for Phelps to take the 1st place. A real winner wouldn't feel too pleased if he's real competitor is not around. Only a second best like Phelps would bask in the glory when his real competitor has retired.

  2. Absolutely, but then again, he's won so many medals now that maybe he is entitled to a little bit of an ego trip.

  3. He is doing his thing just like actors, musicians or other professional athletes.  He's an inspiration to a nation and a great asset to the sport of swimming. He also inspires others to achieve thie dreams, no matter what setbacks, like ADHD, they might suffer.

  4. I kinda agreed with you kinda...like sometime he yells and scream too much and he does this humping stuff. but on the other hand i really would do the arms movement, COME ON! its a gold medal

  5. No way!! He is the exact opposite of that!!!!

He just celebrates his victories as expected!

To "asian" above. You are such a dufus. Research how many times Phelps raced against Thorpe. They hardly ever competed in the same events!

  6. No, I don't think he's showing off. Wouldn't anyone celebrate if they just won another gold medal???

  7. no i dont think you can "show off " in swimming its not like half through the race he stops and waves at the crowd and then blows everyone out. he is just realy happy to win and aganist the best in the world if you do win you got bragging rights.

  8. he's definitely not a show off... it's the olympics and he's managed to do what nobody else has ever done... he deserves to celebrate... it's like any other athlete after they've one a big title or do a fist pump after scoring a major point.  he's no where near a show off... in interviews he's one of the nicest guys in the world, thanks everybody, and can't believe that this is all happening to him... i say let him celebrate and enjoy it all while he can

  9. he is not a show off, he just prepares and knows the magnitute of the moment

  10. Wow!? You are so very ignorant. The best olympic athlete ever, i think it's ok for him to celebrate a bit. I would have expected the same question regarding Usain Bolt.

  11. hes jsut happy. how would you feel if you gold after gold? YOU ARE JUST JEALOUS! get over it.

  12. WTF?!

I agree with everyone else. You sound ignorant and envious.

If you won a freaking gold medal, I highly freaking doubt you stand there like a damned statue. You'd go crazy, too. The olympics might not mean anything to you, but to Phelps it means a s**+tload to him. I actually think he took it pretty well, because I was wailing like a maniac.

And for the record: Michael Phelps IS good. So if, in fact, he did make those arm movements for that reason (which he does not), I would not have a problem with that either.

  13. When you're that good, you're allowed to be arrogant

  14. No.  I think you are just envious.  If I was in the Olympics and I won a gold medal I'd go nuts too.

  15. no he isnt a show off. ALL THE AMERICANS ARE SHOWOFFS
