Question:

Does anyone think because Obama is black that everyone is being really cautious about not offending him?

I watch late night talk shows, and I hardly hear a joke demeaning Obama, but Mcclain, they tear his butt up! I am saying this as a democrat. I don't like double standards for any race, or gender. I am a female minority, by the way.

  1. Are you for real?  Have you not seen the New Yorker or heard the comments by Jesse Jackson lately? And these are the ones that the media wants us to know about.  Can we say death threats?  Can we say secret service even before the campaign started due to these threats (unlike another other candidate in our history)?

  2. yeah, i noticed that too. The thing is that he's only half-black. I think they are being cautious because they don't want his campaign people to use it as publicity.

There is no way around it really. Some people will vote for him because of his policies. Some people will vote for him because they don't want to look like racist. And the people who vote for McCain will be called racist because they chose the white guy over the black guy. I wish this racial garbage would go away already.

  3. well to be really honest.....everyone thinks obama will change america just because hes black..every single president said the same thing..i have respect for obama and all the others that came before him...im really giving my statement to bush because he has us fighting a war thats causings us problems...and by the way they already said demeaning things about obama they even made a video with facts that had me doubting him ever since facts with evidence...go on youtube and what the video

  4. Watching the reruns of the Daily Show, he seems to get into Obama ALMOST as much as McCain, but then his jokes tend to run a little deeper than most of the other late night comedians. Making a dumbed down "he's an old man" equivalent joke about Obama would be pretty tricky without treading really close to the racism line.

  5. Oh No, then what the h**l did Jesse Jackson say?

Obama is going to have a very tough campaign, the closer we get to November, the tougher it'll be for him.

  6. It is probably a combination of that and the fact many people in Hollywood have no problem saying they are going to vote for Obama.  So, maybe they don't want to make fun of the guy they are going to vote for.

  7. No doubt about it.

  8. When running for president, you are opening yourself up to any type of scrutiny and criticism. Most of it is not even going to be true or even relevant. I doubt they are being soft on him. He is questioned for his middle name (Hussein). Pretty much every day I hear someone say that Obama is Muslim. Guess what? He is a practicing Christian.
