I do not think he is a good boxer. I know that he is phenomonal boxer. He can't be touched.. People whine about him "running". OK, exsqueeze me? He's in a d**n ring, where's he supposed to run to exactly. Catch him, cut the ring off, don't whine about it. Every fight he has ever been in he threw more punches and had a higher landing rate than his opponents. He makes the opponent look bad. He was the Ring Magazine's fighter of the year in 1998, almost 10 years later he was once again named fighter of the year. Yeah, to call him "a good boxer" is an understatement. In 1996 the Olympic boxing team boasted having Fernando Vargas, David Reid (middleweights), and Floyd Mayweather Jr. (super featherweight). David Reid was washed up years ago. Fernando Vargas was 'roided up and still couldn't beat De La Hoya, couldn't even last 12 rounds. Floyd Mayweather Jr took De La Hoya to school. Floyd Mayweather Jr. had he stayed at 130-135lbs, would be praised as the greatest ever in the division.
