  1. According to Nihilist apparently  health care can be free.If SOMEONE didn't pay for it than there would be no health care. There would not be doctors, nurses and other health care workers to do the procedures and take care of the patients. The money has to come from somewhere.

And the attitude that if you don't have insurance you can't get medical help--that is a LIE. Not every patient in a hospital is paying for their care. If someone walks into the hospital sick -they can not be turned away.

How do you think St. Jude operates--if a person can not pay they don't have to. BUT there are individuals & corporations that contribute to a fund to help those that can't pay.Someone pays for the medical treatment

Hillary Clinton spoke of free health care  & relieving some of the tax burdens that the middle class has to deal with. Who does she think will be the ones paying for the free health care--the same ones doing now for the uninsured and illegal aliens

  2. There is NOTHING free of cost of some sort.  However our PRESENT health care system is DYSFUNCTIONAL to say the least.  According to recent figures, residents of USA spend almost 1/3 more per capita on health related care than UK, which has a ' socialized' medicine plan.

Opponenets of a national health care plan for US, repeatedly point o UK and Canada as 'worse case' scenarios for government funded medicine, yet I have found, after looking carefully at the systems and comparing it to US, that resdents of UK and Canada fare MUCH better in the long run than US citizens do.

Please, take the time to Google " Single Payer Health Care", and visit:

    http://www.pnhp.org/publications/a_natio...

    Claim:

A National health plan will cause rationing!

    Fact:

We ALREADY have rationing...simple, if you have insurance you get care, if you do NOT have insurance you don't get care...brutal

    Claim:

    Government can't AFFORD it!

    Fact:

A properly structured plan would save 31% administration costs, funds paid by employers now for private health insurance for employees could be rechanneled to a Government funded plan to help defray cost.

The cost of carrying uninsured with the exorbitant prices of today will be defrayed.  We will get MORE health care for dollar spent.

    Claim:

Government funded health care will cause a plummet in the quality of health care.

    Fact:

Under the PRESENT system we are LOSING GROUND!...Most Western Euro countries have MUCH better health care measurement figures.  THIS US system is failing to give even INSURED people the care they are paying for.

    Please, google

  3. Its free to those on welfare. Of course though isnt everything free for them?

I get healthcare through my employer. I am very satisfied with it. I do not want the government to take over my healthcare.

  4. Ya Right! Does free health care mean doctors don't charge or the hospital doesn't charge? I wonder how they get paid. I wonder if someone else has to pay. I think I would rather have free car insurance.

If you don't pay your doctor bill they just kick you out of the hospital.

If you have a car wreck and don't have insurance they put you in jail.

    I want free car insurance.

  5. I would prefer a tax supported system that offers affordable access to health care than our current system that is controlled by insurance companies.

Our current system does not work for all Americans.  We have 47 million people in Texas that are  currently uninsured.

But to respond; there is no such thing as free health care.  Your question is misleading.

  6. I know it's not free.  In fact the cost is unbearably and mortally high.

  7. huh???  what do you mean free health care isn't free?  when obama becomes president, all the doctors, nurses, orderlies, support and administrative personnel, research and development labs and the insurance and pharmaceutical companies are all going to do their work for absolutely no compensation whatsoever and that means we don't have to pay for ANY OF OUR CARE!!  sheesh...don't you people understand plain english anymore???   free means FREE!

vote for his holiness in november and never pay for anything again!

  8. No. Health care isn't free. I have 100% employER paid health insurance, so I don't pay a premium. However, I have to pay co-pays, so essentially it does still cost me. If we were to have social or universal health care, I believe it should only cover the cost of basic health care - such as routine visits and so forth so people will be able to see a doctor. I don't think the government should have to foot the bill for everything. In my area, we have clinics that we call the "$5 doctor's" because you can go see the doctor for $5 and they give sample medications.
