She has such poor sportsmanship, fist pumping whenever opponents make errors or even when they double fault!! you're only supposed to do that when you hit winners!

  1. yeah i felt the same way take a look at my question a cpl more down from yours about fist pumps :) i think it would make me very angry someone celebrating my mistakes.

  2. i think its very insportsman like.

  3. I used to root for her but it is the fist pump for me .  I have to admit it is kind of irritating for me to watch.  Anyway, that is the reason why I want sharapova to play her because sharapova is louder and can get in her face more.  I hope sharapova wins this tournament.

  4. Playing the devils advocate, I don't see as a huge deal as some of you are making. You're the one who made the error so get mad at yourself. To get mad because of a fist pump or to get "raging angry" is dumb. Don't look the other way when you make  an error :).

  5. It isn't rude. Sharapova screamed a huge COME ON! when Safina missed a shot for set point at RG not 3 weeks ago. It's OK to express emotions and to get fired up, it's part of the game. Sharapova does it, Nadal does it, only Federer doesn't, because he just doesn't show emotion on court, which is amazing! She doesn't do it to spite the opponent, she does it for herself and to pump herself up. There is nothing wrong with that in my opinion, and her opponents don't seem to mind because she got awarded a Sportsmanship award voted for by the players themselves! She doesn't intend to deliberately distract her opponent and I'd even be willing to say that she doesn't even know she fist pumps half the time! It's almost like an unconscious thing that is used to keep up her concentration and intensity.

  6. OMG! I guess in your opinion, robots should play tennis. Emotionless, dumb, numb robots. You just HAVE TO find something irritating in somebody who a successful, nice and humble person.

  7. Well, she puts so much effort in every match. She really seems to enjoy free points. It's nice to finally see someone who has that much confidence. I honestly think that she can overdo it, but it is a nice thing to see. She also goes, "Uh, ay uh!" whenever she hits a ball. She also goes, "Oh yeah!" when she wins big points. Strange, but kinda cool sometimes.

  8. Yeah, it sort of is gamesmanship... she knows she's better than most of her opponents, yet she kind of rubs it in their face. I think it's ok to do it when she gets a great winner like you said, but not when her opponent shanks it.

I am not trying to be funny, but her squealing like a pig annoyed me when she won the match against Dechy.

  9. Yes, it is so rude... And I hope somebody will do the same thing to her, so she can see how inappropriate it is.

  10. I think its really rude and somebody should have a word with her about it. I'm not the biggest Ana fan to be honest, but I would be disgusted if Roger did that! Ana will get away with it cos of her cutsie smile and squeals. Trust me, if she didn't look like that alot of people wouldnt stand up for her like they don't for the Williams girls. Its pretty bad and I'm sure somebody will have words with her because it clearly wasn't supposed 2 be her match today.

  11. Sharapova and I think Nadal does that also, I find it more annoying when they do it.

  12. Have you seen other players like lleyton hewitt? More players dislike him than any other player. Besides she's really cute so she gets away with it, but she's not so irritating as Maria Sharapova (she's cute too) she screams like somebody's killing her I find that much more irritating than anything else.

  13. A. Ivavovic is one of the nicest players on the court, and frankly a fist pump does not in anyway imply poor sportsmanship.  If you want to be outraged by poor sportsmanship look not further than Serena Williams.  She constantly disrespects her oppenents verbally when she loses and with her manly yells and "stare downs" on the court.
