Question:

Does anyone think it's funny that the Penguins are now whining about calls and obstruction?

I'm a Ranger fan and was mocked for complaining about the bad calls in that series, and then the Flyers fans were called Cryers for the same reason. Now the Pitt fans and players have the audacity to complain after they were gifted into the finals. Love that Karma.

  1. I think its funny.  It shows their frustration as they try to sway the referees.  Its just a fact of sports that the team that's loosing is gonna complain about the officiating.  I guess they forget when Wings players are punched in the face and there's no penalty or calls for goal tender interference that didn't happen.  People look at the game one sided, if you want the Pens to loose you probably only see the bad calls that help them, the same as if you want Detroit to loose. I like to see it because the more time they spend complaining the less time they spend trying to find weakness in Detroit.

  2. I think it is a school room attitude going on.

I thought we were watching professionals........the coach of the Penguins is pathetic......

  3. Behind the scenes of the Penguins practices......

  4. Instead of whining, maybe Therrien should come up with a few adjustments to try and win a game. Is he that LOST already, that he has no adjustments for this Detroit team?

  5. *coughs* Hypocrites!

d**n, sorry, something going around in the office. Yes, I do think that's funny....

  6. Not really very funny.  It's all very well for fans to come on boards like this and complain about the reffing - and by the number of protests on either side, it looks as though the reffing balances out to be approximately impartial.  There are always going to be bad calls.

It's quite another matter for a coach  to sit in the press conference and call the refs biased.  People read and listen to that stuff - do you suppose it sends a positive image out to casual readers and viewers that might get interested in hockey?  I don't think so.  Mr Bettman ought to be having a word in his ear right now about how he represents 'Golden Boy's' team.  He can't afford the public getting the impression that it's all rigged.

I thought  Babcock showed great restraint regarding the most recent interference call on Holmstrom - of course he gave the refs what for at the time, and the press heard every word, but by the press conference he'd got it out of his system and held back most of the vitriol.

Was it all this petulant last year?  I know we were robbed, but apart from that.....?

    Go Wings.

  7. They are all crying b*****s. Much like their captain. he's is the King of them all

  8. Whining will get you a good seat watching the Cup presentation.

Franzen has already laughed off the Gary Roberts sucker punch. I'll give Crosby a bit of credit, though, after reading the transcript of his interview after Monday's game. He let his coach do the major whining.

Crosby is whining plenty on the ice, though. Just watch him before faceoffs.

  9. It's very sad to see in a professional setting.  The Pengs' coach with his slicked back hair and that bulldog mug just make his whining even worse.  Then you have pretty boy Crosby whining too.  Priceless stuff.

  10. I've never enjoyed a series more (that the Flyers weren't involved with) for that reason alone.

NIPS - The Habs know a little about running a class franchise. That's why they got rid of him.

  11. pens cry, sids made of glass they dont want him hurt. but to say the refs are unfair look at game two, lidstrom went to the box twice a guy who doesnt go very often ever, and holmstroms magic of messing with goalies hes not even touching or the goalie is playing outside his own blue crease. pens only have the pens to blame for the box seat treatment quit crying suck it up its hockey not tennis. (insert Sergei Fedorov/pavel bure joke here)

  12. Penguins and Redwings have had the refs on there side through the whole playoffs, but in the final series they have been on the redwings side so far.

  13. I'm surprised that the Wings haven't flipped out on the refs for these horrible goalie interference calls and i'm shocked the refs are making all these chincey hooks.... not just against the wings.. (although i do notice a lot of it against them) but against every team... thats why i cant be in the nhl... id kill the ref.

  14. NIPS makes a very good point.

these are two teams going in two VERY different directions. look at the mindset of their leaders.

(in the short term; i think the Pens will be a good franchise for a few years, at least)
