Does anyone think my picture tube is blown or know a good TV repairman?

In the course of the past 6 months, I would turn my TV on and then it clicked off instantly. After about a day or two, the TV was back to normal and would stay like that for about a month. When this problem occurred, I would unplug and let it rest for awhile and try turning it back on. But last week, it went completely out. I'm not sure what happened. It's a Mitsubishi 45" projection TV purchased in 2000. I don't think its that old to blow and I'm sure not ready to buy a new one yet. Any suggestions.

  1. i will start out by saying im NOT a tv repair man but i had this same problem with my 46" hitachi projection tv.its more likely going to be your transformer is running too hot and causing the shut down (it kind of goes into safe mode) or your ic chips need replacing.either one will run you about $400 to repair.im not a repair man but this is common.you should be able to get a free estimate from a tv repair shop.
