Question:

Does anyone think save a lot and Aldi's are really any less expensive than Kroger or biggs?

I know a lot of things are cheaper at Aldi and Save a Lot on a regular basis. I have found though that by hitting sales and keeping my eye open. I really do not need to go to those stores. Plus the quality of the items is not always so great. Just my 2 cents anyone else?

  1. I have never been to and Aldi, but I have been to Save a Lot and Kroger.  Personally, I think Save a Lot is disgusting.  They have no name brands, and their stores are not bright and clean like Kroger.  Yes Save a Lot is cheaper, but Kroger is better.

  2. Aldi's is usually a pretty good value for canned goods and dairy (milk and eggs).  The Aldi's where I shop has a real problem with fresh produce so I usually don't buy it there.  Even granny smith apples, which are pretty tough, are too badly banged up to be worth buying unless I'm planning to make sauce right away.  Typically, I only shop at Aldi once a month and stock up on basics.

If we watch sales at the 3 other bigger stores in our area, we can usually just pick up the loss leader items for a great savings on meat and produce.  WalMart is also another great place for great values, but as with any other store, you need to compare prices regularly to make sure they are still a good value.

As for the quality at Aldi, I have never had any problems with canned fruits and veggies, or with their dairy.  They also have very good quality frozen meats such as hamburger, chicken, and ground turkey that are a very good value.

It really depends on what you eat and what brands you prefer.

  3. My friend Jason bought something from Aldi's and it was full of spider eggs.
