Does anyone think that Michael Waltrip is a better announer than driver ?

I like him in the booth with the truck races,I just think he should be an owner instead of a driver .

I think he makes a better commercial actor than either of the other two.  He does have some really good commercials!!

he's ok as an announcer and owner,   but c'mon, lets face it...his glory days in racing are behind him.

I'm right there with ya brother David g. He should stick to being a owner and a announcer. But I'm sure the desire to be in the car is in all their blood so leaving has got to be tough.

yes. i like mikey as an announcer and as a pitchman. as a driver, he leaves something to be desired, but his excitement during the truck races is infectious. he gets all riled up and starts talking in that high-pitched voice and really lets me know something exciting is happening.

Well.... To me sometimes he tends to get a little annoying in the booth but I agree with you and think maybe he should consider taking himself out of the cup car. He had some good runs at DEI and I think at this point in his career it's time for him to hang up the helmet and focus more on his teams and being an owner ;-)

Mikey would be more entertaining doing infield stunts before the race I believe.  Like old Superdave on the David Letterman show used to do !!

Yes totally agree..better Announcer and funny too..his fatal move was going to Toyota....he did not have the big name or money to compete with Gibbs

He is far better than Rusty Wallace in the booth and would be an asset

Michael Waltrip, in my opinon  is good in the booth . I really hate to say it , but he should consider hanging it up & concentrate on the team .

He should concentrate on being an owner. I don't know though. He's okay as an announcer. When he's driving though he seems to drive with one hand and twiddles around with other things in his car with his right hand. He needs both hands on the wheel and quit acting like it's a Sunday drive.

Yes i absolutely do believe Michael is way better in the booth just like Kyle  Petty finally figured out. Waltrip's competitive racing days unfortunately died about the same time Dale sr. passed away.I believe he should give a rookie a shot in that car and retire. He has lost a lot of respect since he went with Toyota.Also he was caught cheating once, and stole parts(a swaybar) from another garage. These things are just like older ball players using steroids to remain competitive at the END of their careers.

I like Mickey, but agree he should be an announcer/owner. Surely I can not drive a race car anything like he can. LOL not even close! But I think his days of glory are over. How long has it been since he won a race?????

He is not his brother and I am glad about that as I think other than Kyle Petty and DJ he makes the best announcer...

Yes, he is a great announcer. He is also a good race car driver, just not the best equipment. If he retires soon, I hope that he becomes a full time announcer. Beats rusty = P

I agree David he is a dang good announcer, I think the best of his driving days are over, yes he should be a owner, leave the driving to someone else..Mikey is a cool guy..But I always enjoy when he is with the guys calling the truck races..

I've thought for a long time Micheal would be a better owner than driver, and should concentrate on just one.  And I do like his commentating during the truck races. I think Kyle Petty should consider the same career move. He's talented in the PR and business aspects just like MW and I liked his short lived race announcing for TNT this summer.

well..i like the guy, i really do.

but he's not that great of a driver.

but he's one of the nicest, funniest guys out there...& i love when he is in the booth.

Yep, I have to agree.  But, tonite his comments seemed to be a bit more "scripted" than usual.  He was smiling on cue!  As far as driving?  It is his team, and he should drive for as long as he truly has the passion to do so.
