Does anyone think that Pride FC events were way more exciting than UFC events?

UFC events/rounds are all shorter and seemed rushed. Nothing like the days of Pride with the long 10 minute rounds and boxing ring-so you know there is going to be more stand up fighting. There are too many fighters in the UFC and you only get to see them fight 2 or 3 times a year while Pride events usually used the same outstanding fighters all the time. UFC has way way way too many fighters and by the time the genuine good fighters have a chance to finally prove themselves they've grown too old and are out of their prime.

Ummm....

There were more submission wins in Pride then there were knock outs. So not sure I would say the boxing ring meant more stand up... the fact they hired a bunch of former kickboxers helped... (until of course, the kickboxers got taken down and submitted).

Trust me, maybe you are just thinking fondly, but there were plenty of boring Pride fights, and crappy boring cards there as well, Not to mention 5 minute ring introductions.

I did like the Yellow Card in Pride, and wish the UFC and American MMA would do something similar.

But did I think they were way more exciting? Not really, I think both have put on some really good shows, and both have put on some horribly crappy ones.

Trust me I have seen some long 10 minute rounds that I had wished were 5 minute rounds.

All in all, I think it is a toss up... as the UFC over the last couple of years have really stepped up their game with some good cards, and good fights.

sometimes prides rounds seemed too long for me the boxing ring was a great alternative to a cage sometimes you just wanna see something diffrent the soccer kicks and head butts were a nice touch i think both are equally good in diffrent ways

Pride FC was great, but I would have to disagree on the boxing ring. Some of the most interesting battles occur on the ground in the UFC. Trust me, I am no fan of one guy laying on top of the other doing just enough to get the victory, but I think watching a guy like Nate Diaz or Frank Mir work a submission from their back, or watching a guy like Brock Lesnar or Tito Ortiz take a guy down and GnP him into black out is one of the best things about the UFC. You don't get as much of that in a boxing ring. Overall the cards in Pride were better, maybe Affliction will put out some cards to rival that of Pride's haydays. All said, both the UFC and Pride have a lot of great things about them.
