  1. No. Global warming causes storms and things like that. Floods have been happening for year. The ancient Egyptians needed the Nile to flood yearly didnt they?

  2. You should not blame global warming for any single weather event.  Global warming may make things like the midwest floods more likely (or possibly less likely), but it does not "cause" them.  That is weather, not climate.

  3. According to the weather channel:

In some regions there has been a tendency for an increase in precipitation extremes, both wet (including floods) and dry (droughts). These observations over the past several decades are consistent with what theory and global climate models would suggest.

  4. Of course, global warming is the cause of all disasters. Nothing bad ever happened until scientists came up with global warming.

  5. It has become a tendency these days to blame global warming for every event. We should be very alert because floods are not a new phenomena. They are taking place from long back. If some amount of average rainfall increases at any place, it will not result as flood, but it is the distribution of rainfall that causes floods.

In some literatures, it has been reported that due to global warming, some extreme events including floods may increase but we can not blame all floods due to global warming. It is the mismanagement of natural resources that is resulted as floods.

Additionally i can also add that floods can not be controlled. They can be managed only.

  6. yes, very definetely. The weather for the whole world has gone haywire, read the news, take a look around you!

  7. It's unwise to draw conclusions from any single weather event.  But the latest climate assessment from the US Climate Change Science Program (released May 29, 2008) says (in part) the following about floods:

"In the United States, precipitation intensity will increase across the country, particularly at middle and high latitudes where mean precipitation also increases. This will affect the risk of flash flooding and urban flooding in these regions "

"Projections of global precipitation extremes and droughts show that the intensity of precipitation events is projected to increase"

"Some studies project widespread increases in extreme precipitation with greater risks of not only flooding"

"Recent studies indicate that climate change scenarios that include increased frequency of heat stress, droughts and flooding events reduce crop yields and livestock productivity beyond the impacts due to changes in mean variables alone, creating the possibility for surprises"

"Globally, increased intensity and variability of precipitation is projected to increase the risks of flooding and drought in many areas (high confidence)"

  8. No.  Floods have occurred for millions of years.

  9. yes and it causes earthquakes to lol

global warming is a hoax. dont be a victom of a lie

  10. yes., think logically..!

  11. I doubt it.  I actually live in the midwest in the middle of the flooding (saw quite a few familiar sights on national news, which was interesting).  The ground was already soaked from a lot of snow this year, and then it's been raining a lot lately.  They were bad storms, sure, but it's a combination of factors.  You can't just say it's global warming with no evidence.

Besides... I live in an area that was once covered by glaciers.  Climate change happens, and it's not always because of people.  It's just human arrogance to assume it MUST be us causing any climate change.  Granted, we should be responsible with energy and our impact on the environment, but we don't have to go into a politically correct panic over it.

  12. Yep, it was the vast  amount of pollution  and the big hole in the ozone layer that was the reason Noah had to build that stupid Ark, global warming  at it's best.

  13. No.  Global warming (man made that is) is a hoax.

  14. No, has anyone heard of the drought. I lived in Iowa for four years and all we heard about was that there was no rain. We were asked to pray for rain. The lord answered them. By the way

I live in Portland now where winter has just ended. Also, how do we know what the weather was like in 1700 does anyone have weather journal stating the weather was getting warmer?
