  1. Beijing had it worse. I watched this documentary last night where They just started building the Bird's nest and Water cube when they found out they'd be hosting and on top of that they had to go through the pollution issue and all that drama.

(The water cube is an amazing piece of engineering i might add. Those are blown up pieces of ETFE you see there. like a little pillow)

  2. well, its not all in london, for example the football will be held in glasgow and the sailing in weymouth.

  3. Manchester bid for 2000 and lost to Sydney. There was also a bid for the 1996 olympics. Birmingham bid for the 1992 olympics. It's up to the individual cities to bid, not the country. They are judged according to what the city can offer. Capital cities tend to win as they have higher profiles, although Los Angeles and Atlanta have hosted the games and they are obviously not capital cities.

  4. Well, if London hasn't got the room, then surely the significantly smaller cities of Manchester, Birmingam and Liverpool would have a bit of a struggle too.

Birmingham bid for it in the early 90s and failed.

Just enjoy the fact that it's in the UK and don't be so petty.

  5. i think  china started out the same way.  they just recently had to build their stadiums before the olympics started

  6. well: it depends with The " International Olympics Committee  whom

plans those Olympic Games Answers Sports when A country

hosts an Winter or Summer Sporting events they will tell us by

2012 if London or England recives the Olympic Flag "

  7. In 2000 soccer went to Brisbane and Melbourne.

Equestrian was in Hong Kong in 2008

So you might get some sport in your area

  8. Then manchester, liverpool or birmingham  should bid to host the olympics.

  9. In fairness both Manchester and Birmingham have bid for the Olympics in recent times and they didn't get it. As previous answers have said it won't all be held in London..... the cycling will almost certainly be in Manchester foe example... I think most of the big cities will get to host at least one sport

  10. It's a bit late, London has them.

  11. London is the capital of the UK, only London has the infrastructure to hold such an event.

  12. manchester had the 2002 common wealth games, the last time london held such an event was quite a while ago and we are talking 50 years since we held the olympics here, so dont act like we get everything.

  13. London's the only one who can afford to bribe Olympic officials ;-)

It would be nice if it was a bit more spread about though. I think i'll try to catch the cycling road races or the marathons (they'll be free) Even if some events were local the prices will probably be a bit prohibitive.

  14. I think the 2012 Olympics should be hosted anywhere but Western Europe and America. It's so boring. We see this countries all the time. I want somewhere unique like Japan or Brazil. I'll die if it's Chicago.

  15. Manchester had 2 previous failed bids due to its lack of international image. I read somewhere that the IOC members insisted that for England to host the 2012 Olympics, it has to be London to have a chance of beating Paris. The advise was good.
