Does anyone think the deaf mute on the Calgary C-train is really deaf?

  1. Good question, I've asked this many times myself. I've seen this man many times on the train, handing out the yellow "smile cards." Last month I was surprised to see another man hand out the same cards as the deaf mute... so it made me wonder if both were deaf and mute.

    I once thought if I knew sign I'd try and test him... but I don't mind him anymore because he doesn't hassle individuals. Not that he should be doing that on the train, but I've been hassled by other street people and all you have to do is nod and he walks away.

    So... my vote is yes... and I think the other individuals using the same card tactic are not.


  2. I live in Calgary, and I have never heard of a deaf-mute on the C-Train...although if there is one, it is almost certainly real.

  3. Get a small paper bag, blow it up and pop it in your hands behind his back..  If he jumps or flinches, he can hear as well as you or me.
