I mean, did they "stimulate the economy?" Just wondering, because I haven't heard too much about it since they started going out. It was one of the few times this particular Congress and Bush have been of like mind on anything.

  1. It doesn't seem so, I am not an economist so maybe the results are slow in coming. Our check was quickly absorbed by the rising cost of food and gas.  We never even really noticed that we had the check. It would have been nice to have been able saved it or used it for a vacation.

  2. It didn't do anything but put us in more national debt as the people passed their check to the gas station who in turn passed it to the oil companies.

Band-aids don't work on major wounds.

  3. Minimal positive effects, but no real solution.

  4. it always works when give people back their money and spend it , in their own way. image what would happen . if the

the government would spend less and less taxes.

  5. Puhlleeeeaase. This was such obvious political pandering.

  6. Could you help your own financial condition by borrowing and spending some money?  That is what the stimulus was.  We borrowed money from China, increasing the National debt, then spent much of the money buying junk made in China.

As far as helping the economy it was a temporary fix, like a drug addict would get.  But the real purpose was political, that part worked.  Once more the American people proved they still believe in Santa.

  7. It helped in some ways but it in no way fixed the problem

  8. I really don't know.  I read a few days ago that June wasn't as bad economically as was may, due in part to the stimulus checks and the weather being unusually cool.  I can tell you that in my area it didn't help much.  A lot of businesses are closing.  Most people I know used it to pay bills or buy food and gas.
