Question:

Does anyone think this is okay?

I went to Hofstra this summer for the soccer program for two weeks. I met this guy there, John, and he's pretty good-looking. He told one of my friends that he thought I was cute and he liked me, but I already have a boyfriend. My current bf went away to camp and he never really paid attention to me. I got John's phone number and planned to call my bf to confirm that we really never had a relationship, but I never did. It's been a few weeks. Is this okay? What should I do after I finally call my bf?

  1. How old are you?  If you are 13, this relationship with the bf who went off to camp without a word may not be that serious.  Kids of your age should not settle into any one dating relationship too seriously.

Also, summer romances at camps are bound to happen.  They may or may not lead to anything more for the rest of the year.  Does John live anywhere near you?  Perhaps you may want to have him as a friend on Facebook or something, and stick with your regular boyfriend.

Is your regular guy back from camp?  If he is, and hasn't gotten in contact with you, are think you are free to phone John.

If you like this John better than your regular boyfriend, just give the bf a call and tell him you have grown apart.

A lot of what you need to do depends on how longstanding your relationship with your bf has been.  Are we talking two weeks or six months?

Whatever you decide about John, I guess it wouldn't hurt to give your bf a call and see if he still considers you a couple.  When you know what he is thinking, you will better know what to do.  Maybe he has met someone at camp, and doesn't know how to break it off with you?
