i have used the 'depo-provera' contreceptive injection for about a year now, as has my friend and we have both noticed we get spider or thread veins, does anyone else get this?

also, i no that women who are pregnant get these veins due to hormones, could the hormone 'progestogen' be anythin to do with it?

is there anything i can do?

  1. Those veins are not caused by the shot. Alot of people get them who are NOT on the shot, usually in thier legs. Its due to pressure on your legs, and they are worse for people who run or exercise alot (because added pressure) or heavier people, or people who work on thier feet.

I have them, and I'm not on the shot. It also usually runs in the family.

You can get rid of them by getting shots, from a place that does laser hair removal or other cosmetic treatments.

So they're not caused by the shot, they're caused by pressure and often run inthe family. Some people have them worse than others but almost everyone has them mildly.

    Sorry!

  2. Found this in a google-search:

Avoid using Depo-Provera if you have a history of asthma, blood clot, depression, diabetes, epilepsy, high cholesterol, stroke, kidney or liver disease, varicose veins, heart problems, breast cancer, genital cancer, osteoporosis, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding or miscarriage.

Maybe it makes them worse if you already have them? Maybe you already had them, or were prone to them.

  3. Get off of depo provera.  Majority of women suffer some very serious health issues because of it.

Read the reviews here.  I'd never recommend it to anyone.
