We love the smell of it, but when we use it our clothes just do not smell good. Other people we know, when they use it their clothes smell so good, not that we are smelling their clothes, you can.. just smell it.

We don't know how to get our clothes to smell like that. Are there any tips on getting your clothing to smell, well, good when using Tide?

  1. It could be your washer. Try cleaning it out with bleach.

    Try smaller loads

  2. Take a regular load and wash half of it in Tide with a single rinse, then dry.  Take the other half, wash in Tide and do two extra rinses, then dry.  If the extra rinses help, it may mean your washer is not working well or you are using too much Tide (my guess, try half what you are using now).  The second test is to compare two half loads, both washed the same, but one has dryer sheets added in the dryer, the other doesn't.  If you still have the smell problem, switch to another brand.  Different noses work different ways.

  3. Do you smoke or do anything that would make your clothes smell? Do your off-season clothes stay put in a damp place? Try using baking soda in each load with your Tide, then use dryer sheets or some other fabric softener also. Also, it could be the amount you are using too, you may need to use more, and wash smaller loads. I can't use Tide due to allergy, we use Gain, love the smell! Good luck!

  4. Do you use downy fabric softener also?  We do, and it makes our clothes smell really good.  You can choose the liquid or the dryer sheets, they both work well for us  :)

  5. They have plain Tide and Tide with febreeze and other added softners. Which one do u use? Might want to try the 2nd one! That's probably what makes the clothe smell so good!

  6. your personal habits are irrelevant; sorry.

    1.  tide is entirely too expensive.  so is gain.

    2.  i smoke, store clothes (as if that causes bad odors), AND have pets.

    3.  purex and arm & hammer do a perfectly good job, and adding a bit of borax or vinegar helps immensely.

  7. The newer Tide makes my clothes smell bad. I can smell it when I'm wearing them. There are comments about this on the Tide website. People are wondering when and why they changed the formula. I used Tide for 40 years and never had a problem until recently. Now I just buy the cheapest laundry detergent available and add about a half cup or so of Simple Green to it. My clothes are very clean and smell good, too.

  8. wash an empty load in your washer, add about half a gallon of vinegar...this will clean your washer, lots of times they can mold and mildew behind the bowl and you can't see it...but your clothes won't smell fresh!

Also let your clothes air dry, it keeps the scent of tide in them!

Also i like the original scent best, but the kinds with the fabric softener are pretty good too!

  9. Buy Arm & Hammer Laundry Detergent. (some are scented). you can also use natural essential oils if you like. (a few drops)

  10. My clothes did not start smelling good, until I switched to Tide. Maybe you need some kind of pre-soak before you wash.

  11. I cannot afford Tide. So I buy the Arm and Hammer liquid soap. My clothes smell good but it is because I put in liquid softener in the washing machine. They smell great!

  12. I really don't use Tide because it's a little high for my budget, I use

Gain laundry detergent with lavender soothing sensations.  I like the

fragrance better and since it's concentrated I use less per load.

  13. Sometimes it just depends on the washing machine. Me and my mom uses the same laundry detergent and somehow her clothes smell nicer than my clothes.

One thing that always works to get a real nice smell and to make your clothes soft is to use fabric softener. They have Tide with febreze fabric softener mixed together so you don't have to wait for the rinse cycle
