Does anyone use propay merchant services?

Can you use their services if your entire business is "on the road" with trade shows? I noticed one rule in their contract that might prevent this. Also are they as good as they say they are? Do I need to purchase any credit card processing machine? such as the old "knuckle buster" machine? If not, how do I have a "hard copy" if I am going to process the transaction at home via the internet?

  1. Hi There,

Good Post!  I love everything about business, escpecially the marketing and advertising parts.  These things make or break a business.  I've found many ways to advertise my business that might help you.  If you have a website, try SEO and PPC (pay per click from Google Adwords).

If you advertise your business offline, try handing out flyers, printing coupons, and yellowpage advertising).

The best method I've found yet is to buy business cards and hand them out everwhere.  I buy them from a place online that gives the cards for free and only charges for shipping and handling.  I hand these out to everyone I meet, and I leave them on cars where ever I go (I also got a free business card holder that looks really impressive)!

Take care and good luck with your business!

  2. Hello,

I've been using ProPay for years for our business.  Although we are an online store, Propay has been the only merchant service that I have found to not charge me crash monthly fees.  We pay a once a year membership fee and then a very good per transaction fee for each transaction.

They have always been easy to work with as well, when we needed additional limits so we could process more it was just a simple chat with their online chat system and within about 15 minutes our limits were increased.

There is no need to purchase any type of equipment, you can just log into your account online and process your cards.  I've read that you can also process cards by phone if you are without an internet connection for some reason but I have personally never used that service.

I give them 2 thumbs up!

  3. I use propay for my home based business, you can use it over the phone or their website, I usually write the cc info on the customers receipt, such as cc#, expiration date, ccv# from back of the card, you will also need their zip code this helps with verification (actually best to use customers entire billing address).  If you use the trial package for processing, it's a little pricey when you process the cc, and it is a flat fee when you transfer to your bank account.  I usually wait until I have more than one transaction before I will transfer to my personal account.  The only thing I don't like is that it normally takes 2-5 business days before you can transfer funds to your own account then there is another waiting period for that.  For example I processed a card on July 14, it was available for transfer on July 18, and was in my personal account on July 21.  If you can deal with the fee's they charge and the time frame to wait on it to be available to you then I would go with them.
