Does anyone use the Depo-Provera shot for birth contorl?

I have been using birth control pills for about 5 years but was thinking about changing to the shot. I was wondering if anyone who uses it can tell me if it is better than the pill. What are the side effects? Did you gain a lot of weight? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

I used it for 6 months but had to stop.  I was such a ***** when I was on it that my boyfriend threatened to leave me if I kept taking it!
