I am current trying to raise at least £5000 for my own charity called England's Rose Foundation in order to be able to register with the Charity Commission and I was wondering if anyone would like to become trustees, you must have people skills and have your heart and soul into the charity

  1. This is an inappropriate way to recruit trustees! Especially as you do not give details of what the organisation does.

Trustees need to understand their strategic role and have skills in finance, funding, HR, management, governance and so on and you need to ensure that the people you recruit have this knowledge.

I would recommend you place an ad at www.reach.org.uk and with your local Volunteer Centre. Having trustees all over the UK would be very difficult to manage.

  2. who is it helping and what is it for ?

  3. A better place to recruit volunteers for such time-intensive positions at a start up organization is locally. You don't say what city or country you are in -- I'm assuming you are somewhere in England. You need to recruit from your own city to start, because you and your trustees should be able to meet regularly, you need to be able to check people's credibility before they join, and you should all donate at least some of the money needed *yourselves* -- it's inappropriate to ask others to donate unless you have put some money in as well.

  4. lots of charities around seek some advice from them.
