Does anyone who has ever worked at mcdonald's know how their cash register works?Categories?

i found a job at mcdonald's but im worried i might not stay. when i started i watched the learning my manager gave me. but i still don't know how it works because i get confused when placing the orders. i forgot the name of the food. does anyone know if there's a website that goes thru every step of using it, or just a list of what the abbreviations mean? i feel so confused because today was the first day and i have a big headache i cannot sleep thinking that i will get fired

Don't worry its all a bit hard at first but here are some basics you should know. But I'm from AUSTRALIA, so this could be different to where you are.

1. All the popular drinks and food is on the main menu, which is the screen that you'll see the most. [Big Mac, Cheeseburger, Quarter Pounder, McFeast and any other burgers with meet. as well as COKE, FANTA and CHOC Milkshake

2. All the CHICKEN/FISH products are in the WHITE MEAT PRODUCTS section [Mchicken, filet-o-fish, chicken deluxe, miny snackwrap]

3. All the DRINKS are in the drinks section of cousre, as well as the DESSERTS [ice-cream, cookies, sundaes]

4. Just ask someone for help :) and try to go to bed earlier so you sleep better

I thought McDonalds had touch screen register's...

do you not know how to ring up food?

its easy if its one of those touch screen things..

i know bk has them and yes im a cashier and we use them and the mcDonalds across the street has those touch screen things...

I got a job at Tim hortons, the cash register was confusing so many foods..in the store that have abbreviations and stuff..it took me like a week to learn everything..and what they meant... on the cash register and to be familiar with all the food.

Your do just fine, give it a few more days. You were a little overwhelmed, and on your first day you didn't want to make mistakes.

I worked at Mickeys years ago, and run register. I had a blast doing so, my best friend on the other hand hated it. And loved to work the grill, me i could not work the d**n grill for the life of me.

You won't get fired, your not the first or last to work there. That didn't  get the hang of things on their first day, hanging in there kiddo. It will get better in a few days...............................
