i mean i really wish this was an option only because it could fit to everyone's needs and the goverment could help with it but probably alot of money would have to put into it . Its just that i wish i could be in private or home schooling , i would like smaller classes and i would get more individual help and home schooling well i always thought of it as if i was sick i am already home , i wouldnt have to get up so early , i wouldnt have to worry about the long transportation to and from my school ;) i dk thats just me .... but has any teenager or parent thought of how this could benefit their life?

  1. The government does give you that option, but they only pay for the public portion. There are two good reasons why the government doesn't pay for private or home-schooling.

First is the cost. Do your parents and your friend's parents want their property taxes increased? A lot? Probably not.

Second is accountability. Some private schools are better than public schools but some are not. Some offer excellent cariculium but others offer only the bare minimum academic standards, not preparing their students for college or jobs.

Some parents are skilled at home-schooling, but others are not. Just wanting to do something does not give you the skills or intelligence to teach or home-school. I had a neighbor who pretended to home-school, but mostly let her kids play all day. She didn't bother to buy all the materials needed to actually teach her kids.

Neither private schools or home-schoolers are tested to be sure they are being given minimal academic skills.

Everyone benefits from smaller class sizes, both teachers and students. I would prefer to properly fund our public schools so that classes could be smaller.

  2. That's up to your parents, not the government.
