Does anyone work on a oil rig, how do you go about it? how long you work and hows the pay? lifestyle?

The work is hard, dirty and the hours are long. Around here (Oklahoma) 12 hr shifts, 7days on 3 off. Rotating shifts also every 3 months. Means you work days 3 months then nights 3 months. Your in the elements (weather) all day  too.

The pay is good starts around 17 dollars an hour for a grub.(new hand) but it has to be the work is hard & dangerous.

well i try it, an for one ,found out i a land lover,lol,,, but their 2 different type, of oil rig, one isa land rig, the other is off shore,,  the one i was on, was good, the food was great, but took a little time, learnning to walk on the rig, as for as,  the pay, very good, ,  i was out for 7 on 7 off, but you can find some, that let you stay out for 2  weeks, an even , 30  days on an  30 off,, as for as the work, it hard,  long hours, an if you get a green horn, on one of these  rig, you can get hurt, it no place, you want to be, in bad weather,,  an to you got to rember, you out their, at least a week, looking at the same faces,,, you learn to live with them, an if ,you find you  home sick, well, you not going home,till you pull, you time,, but i say if you want a good paying job, with meal, an room an board, it a great place to be,,,as for as going out, you neecd to find a com, that, you can , go in an sign on, they sent you to a doc, as to make sure, you able to do the job, then when ,they need help, they call,
