  1. I'm an atheist, so I don't believe in the Seven Deadly Sins and stuff, but I do believe in morality, and I don't think you should have to learn a martial art in order to learn how to behave properly. People should be able to do that in the first place.

However, I do have an interest in the philosophical side of martial arts. Quite recently, I read a book on Taoist philosophy and became quite absorbed by it. For me, martial arts is mainly about self defence and competition, but I also love learning about the history of an art and the ideas behind it.

  2. I don't know about polishing the soul, I will leave that to following jesus and praying for help to make me a better person. However I beleive the dicipline of Martial Arts has helped me in respect of making me a more complete individual.

Most of my overcoming a substance abuse problem I attribute to the help I have received from god, however my study of martial arts played a big role in it. Part of why I drank was because of a self esteem problem. through martial arts I gained respect for myself which definetly helped with not needing the crutch of alchahol.

  3. The USA is probably just about the only place on the planet where this DOESN'T happen.

  4. That's why I use to do Aikido (soul) and Muay Thai (body).

  5. yeah and its prety big deal to polish the souls but of course there are a lot of us this is waht martial ARTS is for

  6. Say what?

I do believe a healthy lifestyle and training in the martial arts is good for the spirit. Building self confidence and a strong spirit are important to maintain mental health. Introspection encouraged by training hard builds character.
