Question:

Does anyone write in cursive anymore?

My mother (who is 53) only writes in cursive. She told me that it was a requirement for kids to do so when she was young. I've noticed that cursive is dying out. I don't know anyone who does it anymore. I'm not talking about just looping your letters together. I mean actual, correct cursive. I, myself don't do it. Do they even teach it to kids still?

  1. I don't do it, but it was a requirement in elementary school when I was there, circa 1984.

  2. i actually prefer to write in cursive even if its not mandatory.  it just moves faster and looks a lot neater than my regular handwriting.  cursive isn't becoming as mandatory because of all of the computer use isn't in cursive.  most of my friends won't write in cursive even though we were all taught how to

  3. I was required to also. In my young adult years I took an italics course but I still write half cursive/half italics.

Most people over a certain age write cursive like my mother. I enjoy reading handwritten letters in cursive. Kinda takes me back. It can be very lovely. Even if mine wasn't.

    Thanks.

  4. Yes, 4th grade girls love it.  Boys that age don't like it because they don't  have fine motor at that age as well developed as girls.  I think it will die a slow death, its harder to read, even at it's best.
