USA held the olympics back in 1996 in Atlanta, so I guess the Olympics needs to visit a few more continents before coming back to North America. It wont take long, The US usually has the money to back up their bid!!

Chicago is vying with Tokyo, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro to host the summer games of 2016. The race,  will culminate with a secret ballot on Oct. 2, 2009, at the IOC general assembly in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Right now, we only know the host of the 2012 Olympics which will be London, England. The US attempts to land every Olympic games, but the host cities are chosen by the IOC.

Right now the candidates for the 2016 host city are: Tokyo, Japan; Chicago, US; Madrid, Spain; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Summer...

Probably not for a few more decades at least. The United States has already hosted the Olympics more times than any other country (8, including both summer and winter), so I'd like to see them in Africa or South America, where the games have never been held.
