I was reading about this job and it said that a lot of the human intelligence collectors get imbedded with infantry units, if that is the case then would I get a gun/training in case of a conflict or do i just have to hide and hope i dont get shot?

  1. If you are smart enough to become a Mike and pass the training you will also have passed Basic Combat Training and learned how to shoot. You will get a rifle, and may also get a handgun for the field of work. I can't say anymore than that.

  2. The first job of any soldier is an infantryman. All soldiers attend basic combat training. Even in your job training you will undergo combat training. Also, when you go to your duty station you will recieve similar training there as well. If you think that there is a job in the army where you won't train for combat then I strongly suggest you consider other career options. Heck, I'm a cook and even I do combat training.

  3. You defintely get a weapon.  You will also be trained how to fire it.  If you are in a unit that is part of one of the big divisions you will get plenty of tactical training.  If you are in an INSCOM subordinate MI Brigade you will still get plenty of training.  Not as good though.
