  1. Yes, Hello_Magenta, there is an asteroid B612.

We live in a skeptical age, where people do not believe anything they do not see.  The Little Prince exists, he exists as certainly as love and generosity and freedom to choose your television channel, exists.  For if we don't have our freedom, then what do we have left?  Isn't it written that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!

Excuse me, with the Medicaid cuts, I don't always get my pills when I need them.

    Asteroid B612... hmmmm....

You know asteroids are named by the year they were discovered and a letter.  And the first asteroid was discovered mid- 19th century... so, maybe not.

  2. After discovery, asteroids generally receive a provisional designation (such as "1989 AC"), then a number (such as 4179), usually only once their orbit has been calculated, and finally (optionally) a name (such as "Toutatis"), in that order.

You won't find any asteroids with a letter-number combination.

There was an asteroid named after the author of the story, but the name of the story's asteroid is not real.

  3. Yes-

The asteroid was discovered by Tamara Smirnova in 1975 and was named after Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, who wrote the book The Little Prince.
