Does astigmatism need to be corrected?

Question

What would happen if it wasn't corrected and I had IOL's, so no glasses or contacts. How would astigmatism affect my vision?

Astigmatism just makes your vision blurry.

Just as if you just had bad vision.

It just means your eye is shaped like a football moreso than a sphere.

i wear glasses for astigmatism so i dont know why you wouldnt be able to, but anyway. Astigmatism affects your vision by making words seem blury whether your looking near or far. having astigmatism i find, when your writing something down i always have to close one eye because one eye is stronger than the other. go get it checked out and your optomatrist will suggest something for you

I wear corrective lenses just to correct astigmatism.  If you have astigmatism that is 1 diopter or greater you probably should correct it.  I know IOLs are made that can correct astigmatism and you may want to look into it.
