  1. All Wii games are region locked.

Up until the recent Wii Update, the Freeloader could be used to play games from other regions.

However, after the update to System Software 3.3, the Freeloader stops working.

So that's the reason why some say yes it works and others say no.

To play games from other regions, your only option is to install the Homebrew Channel with the Twilight Hack and installing GeckoOS on the SD Card you use with the Homebrew Channel.

I cannot give direct links on how to do that, as this will violate the Yahoo Community Guidelines.

But if you google the keywords above you will find all you need to play every game on your Australian Wii.

  2. The real answer is no, freeloader used to allow it but Nintendo has been targeting unofficial add-ons through its updates, so every new freeloader that comes along will eventually be made useless.

  3. Nope, Wii consoles are region locked. I know US games won't work. I doubt UK games will even though you are both in PAL regions, US and Japan are both NTSC and the games aren't compatible.

  4. you could buy a freeloader if you want to play imports...

it does not need a modchip.
