  1. In Australia, we don't have a single organisation providing all of the Plunket services.

Each state has government funded Maternal and Child Health and Welfare services (or some similar name) which conduct clinics where parents can take their babies and toddlers on a regular basis. They provide information on baby and child nutrition and health and children are weighed, measured and tested regularly to ensure that development is within normal parameters. Residential services are also available for parents who need additional support and assistance.

They also provide advice on breastfeeding, but many mothers prefer to join the Australian Breastfeeding Association to receive support from other breastfeeding mothers and advice and assistance from trained breastfeeding counsellors. http://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/

Playgroups have been established many locations in each state to provide support, fun and learning for families and children 0 - 6 in their local environment .

Baby capsules for safe transport of babies may be hired from many councils throughout Australia

  2. I don't think we do.

When on holidays in New Zealand I noticed heaps of plunket rooms and signs for plunket rooms. We simply don't have them over here.

    I'm not sure why.

    Thanks for the question :)
