Does australia really need the queen?

why cant Australia form its own identity and break away from its English roots?

  1. That's up to the Australians.


  2. Does it NEED the Queen?  No.

    Has it chosen to KEEP the Queen?  Yes.

    Referendum was held for this.  However it was influenced by a slant on the question which inferred the method of selecting a President was not by popular vote but by party quorum.

    As for it's own identity, you forget about Federation.  Australia has it's own identity.  And we will always have English roots.  Getting rid of the Queen won't add to or subtract from that.

  4. it probably could if the public voted yes to becoming a republic in the next referendum.

    having said that though, the health and school systems aren badly underfunded and in shambles and a homeless crisis is affecting perth.

    there are more critical areas that our government should be allocating funds to over whether or not the queen is our head of state.

  5. Yeahhhh.... i never knew why the queen is even affiliated with austrailia. Makes no sense.
