  1. no

  2. No.

In the states which allow auto rates to be based on gender (because not all do!), male rates are higher than female rates.

  3. It varies, but usually males pay more than females, especially at younger ages. As they mature, they might pay the same rate.

On average, males have more accidents per year than females. Part of it is because males tend to drive more than females (although this is changing in more recent years). Part of it seems to be due to more risk-taking behavior on the part of young males, although younger females are showing more risk-taking behavior in more recent years.

In a few states, companies are not allowed to rate on gender because it is considered unfairly discriminatory. In these states, insurance companies lose money on males and make their profits on females. (Males seem to like this system more than females.)

Another exception is medical payments or personal injury protection (PIP). Some companies charge middle-aged women more than men. Medical payments and PIP pay for each person injured in the car, and middle-aged women are more likely than men to have children in the car with them.

  4. Here in UK,  us males pay more as we are proven risk takers and "apparently" are more likely to be in or cause an accindent. Bah!
