  1. It has the same health benefits as apple cider vinegar -- nothing at all.


  2. Dr. Bartram calls barley (the grain) "an almost perfect food" because it is high in fiber, calcium, iron, magnesium & potassium. It is also a good source of Lysine, one of the essential (must be obtained from food) amino acids.  It is a very effective "cholesterol blocker" too.

    Barley water, made by boiling the grain, is taken for kidney, intestinal & bowel disorders. It is more of a supportive tonic than a remedy. It is pretty well known in other parts of the world but has fallen into disuse in the U.S.
