Does basil grow well in 90+ degree heat?

I am thinking of buying a basil plant. I know it needs direct sunlight, and needs to be out doors, but it gets very hot where I live, and I am wondering if the plant will be able to survive.

  1. Mine grow well in direct sun here in Florida...Make sure they have good drainage in the pot you put them in for they do not like "wet feet" they like the soil evenly wet though and not totally dry..water once good in the morning and from the bottom not from overhead..basil will get black spots all over the leaves from the sun beading on the water on the leaves in the heat of the day..it is like a magnifying glass effect shining through water..

  2. It should be fine.  Basil is native to the Mediterranean region, where it gets very hot.
