Question:

Does being a joint credit card account holder hurt the other holder's credit score?

I just got married and my husband and me were thinking about putting my name on his credit cards, so that we can both use the same accounts. He has an excellent credit score, but I don't have any (never had a credit card). Will it hurt his credit score if he adds me to his account, since I don't have a credit score?

  1. If he adds you as joint to his accounts, the accounts will be reported on both credit files.  This won't impact his score at all unless the credit cards accounts don't get paid properly.
