Does being a store detective in California qualify for the investigative experience for getting a P.I. license

If anyone knows if this would qualify you for the experience please let me know. Also is California the best state to get a job as a private investigator?? Want to become one once I finish college,so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks alot!!
