Does being Vegetarian make you lose weight? A little or a lot? I was thinking of becoming a vegetarian since I have problems with eating meat and then I was wondering since I wouldn't be eating meat, would my weight drop? I would like to lose a couple pounds but I would like to know if it is a lot or little. Can anyone help? :]

  1. It definitely can.  Now if you substitute meat for soda and potato chips, obviously that won't do you any favors.

If you live your life the same way you do any other day but exchange a hamburger for a salad and an apple, the weight will come right off.

    It worked for me.

Besides, have you ever seen someone gain weight eating fruits and lettuce all day????

  2. No it doesn't. I have a friend that's a vegetarian and he's way overweight. There are plenty of non-meat items that are fattening. Milkshakes, chocolate, pizza, Twinkies, onion rings, banana splits, cheesecake, etc.

You're more likely to lose weight as a vegan as most of the above items are eliminated from the vegan diet.

  3. It depends. Generally a vegetarian diet is often much healthier than the average diet with meat, and so losing weight is common. However, if dairy intake increases dramatically, gaining weight might even be a possibility.

  4. that depends on how healthy and pure the diet is.  no matter what selection of lifestyle you use.

don't choose vegetarianism just for weight loss.

i know many fat vegetarians and some obese vegans.. so that's not the route either.

any diet, well balanced is going to the choice.

oh, 'sara r'  frappachinos and french fries aren't vegetarian.

  5. it is a little i am a vegetarian and have been one all my life. I eat vegetables and because i am indian i eat indian foods. You might want to try indian foods because many of them are tasty and enjoyable and vegetarian. Good luck!

  6. it might... but thier are some fatty foods that dont have meat

    like french fries,

    frappichinos

actually if ur having a frappachino... its healthier to have a big mac

  7. well it depends on what you eat and how much you eat, if you do not eat properly and simply eat carbs all of the time then you probably wont lose weight. Although I have been a vegetarian for four years and ive lost at least 15lbs since became vegetarian. Personally i think it has done wonders for my health :) good luck!

  8. No it doesn't make you lose weight but you have to be even more health conscious when you are a veggie because you aren't getting the protein you get in meat.
